Benefits

Maintenance Benefits

Installation of the new concrete bridge will reduce annual maintenance costs by 80%.

Social Benefits

The bridge when replaced will provide a better level of service and create new opportunities for the community. Though the majority of smaller emergency vehicles (ambulances etc.) can still pass across the bridge, due to the load limit of 12T, larger emergency vehicles, such as fire fighting appliances, which are currently restricted, will be able to access this bridge as an emergency route.

Economic Benefits

Westcott Street Bridge serves approximtely 84 businesses comprising of Healthcare, Administrative Services, Transport and Construction. The existing 12T load limit restricts the free movement of vehicles servicing the businesses resulting in a detour which reduces transport speeds and results in inefficient reduced load sizes. The new bridge structure will provide opportunities for development and growth of existing industries by enabling the route to be used by larger vehicles, reducing the number of journeys and being more efficient.

Funding
