Branxton Pool

Amended opening hours (in place until at least 31 December 2020) 

Due to additional COVID-19 cleaning requirements, the pools are opened for two sessions each day:

  • Monday to Friday – 6am - 12:45pm & 1:15pm - 5pm
  • Weekends and Public Holidays – 7am - 12:45pm & 1:15pm - 5pm 

Pass outs will be issued for patrons to re-enter within 30 minutes of the 12:45pm closure should they wish to re-enter on the same day.

Branxton Pool is an outdoor seasonal 33 metre pool with six lanes and ramp access. Bring along your toddler for some fun as the facility offers a covered toddler pool with step entry and water play features.

Other facilities include:

  • kiosk facilities
  • change rooms including accessible change room and toilet
  • small grandstand
  • picnic shelters and seating
  • grassed areas for picnics or parties

Branxton Pool is home to Branxton Greta Amateur Swim Club who offer a range of programs and competitions. For information on the club please visit the club's Facebook page.


Lap Swimming

  • Monday to Friday – 6am - 9am
  • Weekends and Public Holidays – 7am - 9am

COVID-19 capacity: 16 patrons

Please note: No lane bookings will be taken, a first in first served practice is in place.


Recreation/General Swimming

Hours: 9am - 5pm

COVID-19 capacity: 75 patrons (this excludes Swimming Club nights) 

Rec Swimming will be broken up into two sessions:

  • 1st session will be 9am - 12:45pm
  • 2nd session will be 1:15pm - 5pm 
Pass outs will be issued for patrons to re-enter within 30 minutes of the 12:45pm closure should they wish to re-enter on the same day.

Cessnock Pool

Due to additional COVID-19 cleaning requirements, the pools are opened for two sessions each day:

  • Monday to Friday – 6am - 12:45pm & 1:15pm - 5pm
  • Weekends and Public Holidays – 7am - 12:45pm & 1:15pm - 5pm

Cessnock Pool is a six lane, 50 metre outdoor pool with ramp access. The facility is toddler friendly, featuring a covered toddler pool with step entry, water play features and a small covered baby pool.  

Other features include:

  • kiosk facilities
  • change rooms including accessible change room and toilet
  • grandstand
  • picnic shelters and seating
  • grassed area’s for picnics or parties
  • meeting room available for hire for meetings, parties and functions for up to 30 people

Along with a small gymnasium the centre has an eight lane, 25m pool as well as a 10 metre program pool and leisure pool with a beach entry.

Kurri Kurri Aquatic and Fitness Centre is Cessnock City Council’s year round aquatic facility and is managed by a qualified facility management organisation.  The centre offers swimming and water safety programs, aqua classes, squads, personal trainer and fitness programs.


Important safety information

To ensure compliance with the COVID-19 Public Health Order, Council has introduced the following restrictions to ensure the safety of customers and staff:

  • Saturday and Sunday – 7am - 12:45pm & 1:15pm - 5pm

Maximum capacity:

  • 75 people at Branxton Pool (this excludes Swimming Club nights)
  • 90 people at Cessnock Pool (this excludes Swimming Club nights)
Additional safety and hygiene measures:
  • All patrons must either scan in using the QR code or the 1Breadcrumb app
  • Use of hand sanitiser on entry and exit of facility
  • Patrons are asked to pay using EFTPOS or bring correct change to reduce cash handling
  • 1.5m social distancing at all times (unless living in the same house)
  • Patrons are only to sit in allocated seating
  • All high touch surfaces will be sanitised by pool staff every hour
  • Pools will be vacated daily between 12:45pm and 1:15pm to allow staff to do a thorough disinfectant clean of the amenities and high touch surfaces
  • No equipment or toys are to be shared
  • Patrons are encouraged to use the bathroom and shower at home prior to their visit
  • Any patrons not following the pool staff instructions will be asked to leave the facility
School bookings:

Following an announcement by the NSW Department of Education to cancel their swimming and water safety program, please note that no school bookings will be approved for Term 4.
