Cessnock City Council will ensure the cracked pavers in the Cessnock CBD Shared Zone are fixed and investigations are underway to identify the cause.

Council’s Acting Director of Works and Infrastructure Katrina Kerr said Council is aware of the problem impacting around 120 pavers and will undertake works to rectify the defects.

“We’re extremely disappointed that we will have to undertake rectification works in the Cessnock CBD. Once we can determine the cause of the pavers cracking we will commence works to ensure the problem is corrected.”

Council will inform the community once a resolution has been identified and when rectification works will take place.  Council acknowledges these additional works will cause more disruption in the CBD and thanks the community for their patience. It’s likely the works will occur following the busy Christmas period to ensure minimal disruption to businesses and residents.

The safety of the pavement has been assessed, and while safe for vehicles and pedestrians, hazard signage has been installed to inform all road users.
