Investigations are underway to identify the cause of and rectify approximately 120 cracked pavers in the Cessnock CBD shared zone. Council will inform the community once a resolution has been identified and when rectification works will take place.
The safety of the pavement has been assessed and, while safe for vehicles and pedestrians, hazard signage has been installed to inform all road users.
Council acknowledges that these repair works will cause more disruption in the CBD and thanks the community for their patience.
August 2020
Works have continued to south of Black Creek channel to formalise pedestrian access from the shared zone in Charlton Street to the pedestrian bridge over the channel. Council is in communication with the landowner of the private carpark adjacent to the Cinema complex to adjust the parking arrangement to suit the new pathway.

March 2020
Tree installation on Charlton Street is now complete.
Works have commenced to formalise pedestrian access from the pedestrian bridge to Wollombi Road (map of location below). There will be minor traffic disruptions between March and June 2020, including the loss of around 10 car spaces during works.

Upgrade works for the car park at 209 Wollombi Road, Cessnock (behind the IGA) are also underway. Minor traffic disruptions should be expected between March and June 2020.
Works have commenced to upgrade Laneway 3 and Laneway 2 (map below) in Vincent Street. Pedestrian access will be disrupted between March and June 2020.
