Council is currently reviewing our Tree Giveaway Program.

Cessnock City Council’s annual tree giveaway is on again. Eligible residents can receive up to six free trees for their property.

People living in the Cessnock Local Government Area who have built a new home during the 2021/22 financial year (1 July 2021 - 30 June 2022) can chose from a range of plants, including ground covers like Star of Jasmine through to shrubs like Coastal Rosemary, bottlebrush and gardenia.

This program has been running for more than two decades and not only does it beautify Cessnock, it has positive environmental impacts as well.

Submit an online application or visit Council’s Customer Relations Centre on Vincent Street, Cessnock to apply. 

Applications for the program open on Friday 17 February 2023 and close Friday 3 March 2023, with trees collected on Saturday 18 March 2023.

Eligibility criteria

  1. The property must be located within the Cessnock Local Government Area.
  2. Giveaway only available to people who have built a new property that has been approved by Council within the last financial year.
  3. Applicants can only apply for the program once. If you have received trees and/or shrubs previously at the abovementioned property you are not eligible to re-apply.
