Cessnock City Council is pleased to announce the commencement of a further stage of upgrades at Col Brown Rotary Park, Kurri Kurri, further enhancing this popular community space.

The Stage 3 upgrades build upon the successful completion of previous stages and aim to improve the park's usability and accessibility, while retaining the park's existing character. This stage of works includes enhanced landscaping, upgraded pathways, and upgraded seating areas and amenities, primarily focussed on the eastern end of the park.

Cessnock City Council Mayor Jay Suvaal expressed his excitement about the commencement of these upgrades.

"Col Brown Rotary Park is a prominent community space with a lot of history and significance in Kurri Kurri and we are committed to making it even better," Clr Suvaal said.

"These improvements will create a vibrant, inclusive space and one equipped to host significant local events, such as the Nostalgia Festival, as well as the proposed Kurri Curry Festival under consideration following the most recent meeting of Council.

"I encourage everyone to utilise this space upon the completion of this project and enjoy the enhanced amenities on offer."

Stage 3 upgrades will primarily focus on the Eastern end of the park. Council will continue its efforts to minimise disruptions from the works, while delivering important upgrades to Col Brown Rotary Park.

This project received $847,701 funding through Round 8 of the NSW Government’s Resources for Regions program.

The works are expected to be completed by December 2023. Click to view the relevant works page here, for further information and updates on the Col Brown Rotary Park upgrades.
