Cessnock City Council is encouraging residents to pay their respects this ANZAC Day despite the cancellation of all commemoration services due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent encouraged people to show their respect this year in a different way.

“The NSW Anzac Day Service from the Anzac Memorial will be broadcast live at 10am on ABC TV and streamed on the Anzac Memorial Facebook page. This is an opportunity for us to unite and reflect on the sacrifices made by our service men and women.”

“We always get a strong attendance at our local services and we know everyone will be looking for a way to mark this important day. This year marks 75 years since the end of World War II and every Australian can take time out to consider all those who have gone before us and made huge personal sacrifices for all of us today. Lest we forget.”
