Cessnock City Council is pleased to announce that it will receive funds under the Australian Government’s Black Spot Program to complete road improvement works on Sandy Creek Road, from Quorrobolong to Mt Vincent.

A total of $343,500 will be spent to improve road safety, with the works scheduled to take place in the 2020/21 financial year.

Works will include road widening to achieve a 2.5m road shoulder, installing W-beam guardrails with motorcycle under run protection, installing chevron alignment markers on curves, line marking with reflective raised pavement markers and a vehicle activated warning sign.

Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent welcomed the funding announcement.

“Funding for these works was one of 147 projects funded across NSW. I look forward to seeing this project get underway so we can improve safety for all who travel along Sandy Creek Road.”

Secretary of the Motorcycle Council of NSW, Brian Wood, was also pleased with the result.

“The Motorcycle Council of NSW acknowledges the continued infrastructure works that support motorcyclists as they travel throughout the Cessnock City Council LGA,” said Brian.
