The draft Urban Growth Management Plan is an action from Council’s Local Strategic Planning Statement and is intended to guide the future release of land to support the growth of our area and of our community.

The plan quantifies our existing land supply and identifies investigation areas that may be suitable for development in the future.

Council releases submissions when a request is made in accordance with Privacy Laws and the relevant provisions under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009. The Urban Growth Management Plan helps to achieve the following objectives and strategic direction of Cessnock 2027 Community Strategic Plan:

  • We have adequate industrial and employment lands and thriving commercial precincts.

Objective 3.1: Protecting & enhancing the natural environment & the rural character of the area

Strategic direction:

  • Our area’s rural character and heritage is protected.
  • Our environmental amenity is protected and enhanced.
