Background

The project involves the upgrade of road pavement and stormwater along the following roads in Heddon Greta:

• Heddon Street – Main Road to Averys Lane
• Averys Lane – Heddon Street to Augusta Close
• Adam Street – Heddon Street to Earp Street
• Stanford Street – Main Road to Adam Street
• Young Street – Main Road to Adam Street
• Clift Street – Young Street to Heddon Street

The Clift Street works involve the upgrade of stormwater infrastructure along with the associated downstream works to reduce nuisance flooding of adjacent properties.

Scope of works

This project involves the comprehensive design and construction of Heddon Street's pavement, focusing on its urgent restoration due to severe deterioration. The project's primary goal is to prioritise the rehabilitation of Heddon Street while planning for the subsequent refurbishment of other adjacent roads. Following the completion of the Heddon Street works, the project will transition to addressing the remaining roads in the vicinity.

• Works will commence in early December to provide a low cost, short term improvement to the pavement condition. The works are aimed at providing an immediate improvement to the condition of the road while longer term improvements are designed.

• Onsite geotechnical services were completed in late August/early September. These services provided essential information for the design and construction phases.

• Ongoing efforts to update previous survey works in the project area will contribute to accurate planning and execution. These updates will enhance the project's alignment with the site's current conditions.

• Hydraulic modeling activities are currently in progress, this component is vital for understanding water flow dynamics and drainage requirements within the project area.

• Designs expected to be complete by November/December
