Join Cessnock Tidy Towns Group
Published on 07 June 2022
Cessnock City Council is calling on residents to join the Cessnock Tidy Towns Committee. This is one of several Sustainable Communities - Tidy Towns Committees which assist Council to improve public spaces and natural environments within the local government area.
Council is keen to hear from people who are passionate about improving the image of Cessnock Local Government Area’s towns and villages through litter collection, park upgrades and improvements, and who care about heritage conservation and promotion, and bush regeneration.
Cessnock Tidy Towns Committee will hold its Annual Gathering from 5.30pm on Monday 20 June 2022 at Cessnock City Council Chambers (Ante Room). Interested residents are invited to come along and find out more about how to get involved.
People who are unable to attend the meeting, but would like to be involved should visit Tidy Towns, complete the short online survey and a representative from Cessnock City Council will be in touch.
Cessnock City Council Mayor Jay Suvaal said our local Tidy Towns groups contribute so much of their own time to making our towns beautiful for the community to enjoy.
“Whether it be promoting conservation, picking up litter, or maintaining our local parks, this dedicated bunch of volunteers do a fantastic job,” Cr Suvaal said.
“If this is something you’ve always thought about doing, I encourage you to go along to the meeting and find out what these groups are all about, and how you can help.”
Council supports a number of other Sustainable Communities – Tidy Towns Committees across the LGA, and will soon be calling for new volunteers. Keep an eye on Council’s website and social media channels for the latest information.
