As part of Local Government Week and History Month 2020, Cessnock City Library is launching the ‘Seen@Cessnock’ photo competition on Monday 3 August.

Local residents are invited to snap a great photo of the changing face of Cessnock: perhaps a historical building, bridge, streetscape or site within the Cessnock Local Government Area that is not always seen.

Acting Library Services Co-ordinator, Andrew Powell said that the Seen@Cessnock photo competition will also help to capture history for future generations.

“Cessnock Library hopes to preserve some of the images and make them publically available as part of our Local History Photo Collection on the Library web page and include some of the images in a future exhibition. We are looking for the unusual, the unknown and the unexpected,” said Andrew.

For more information, head to the Cessnock City Library website and click on the Seen@Cessnock link.

Entries open on Monday 3 August 2020 and close on Wednesday 30 September, 2020. There is a first prize of $150 in both the adult and junior categories.
