Nominations are now open for the 2021 Australia Day Awards

Cessnock City Council is excited to announce that nominations are now open for the 2021 Australia Day Awards.
The Australia Day Awards recognise outstanding achievement during the past year and/or contribution to the local community over a number of years.
The residents of the Cessnock Local Government Area are invited to nominate fellow citizen/s and/or organisations for Australia Day Awards in the following categories:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Senior Citizen of the Year
- Maree Callaghan Award – Young Female Achiever
- Community Event of the Year
- Sports Award
- Environmental Award
- Heritage Award
- Community Award
Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent said it’s been a tough year, but one which has displayed the resilience and character of the wider Cessnock community.
“Between the bushfires and Coronavirus our community has had a very difficult year, but it’s revealed that we have some fantastic community heroes who deserve to be recognised,” he said.
