Work is now underway on the final stage of the Cessnock Civic Indoor Sports Centre (CCISC) refurbishment. Upgrade works to the facility’s external facade commenced on Monday. The works represent the final stage in the Centre’s refurbishment, which will provide a quality indoor, all-weather facility that can be utilised by a host of local community sports and specialised interest groups.

The scheduled works include painting of external surfaces, the installation of treads over the front step entry, and replacement of glass louvres and external emergency doors. The work is expected to be carried out over the coming weeks and completed by June 2021. Bookings at the CCISC will not be impacted by the works.

Cessnock City Council has completed upgrades to the interior facilities in recent years, including improvements to flooring, lighting, and the Centre’s kiosk and change rooms. The upgrades have been partially funded through rental income received from organisations that currently use the facilities.

Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent said all groups will benefit from the additional improvements to the facility.

“The Cessnock Civic Indoor Sports Centre is a great community asset. This work will allow the Centre to be enjoyed by community groups in the Cessnock Local Government Area well into the future.”
