Public Briefings

Public Briefings

From March 2026, Council is commencing Public Briefings. Public Briefings are not held for the purposes of deliberating on or making decisions on matters – those matters are considered at a Council meeting.

Public Briefings will generally be scheduled between 5.00-6.00pm in the Council Chambers on the third Wednesday of the month. The timing may be adjusted to accommodate Public Forums.

An agenda for Public Briefings, if scheduled, will be available online one week in advance. The timing may be adjusted if Public Forum is scheduled. Members of the public are not able to request to address a Public Briefing,

Members of the public can attend in person, or watch the Public Briefing live online, as well as recording of past Public Briefings.


Closed Councillor Workshops

Council is permitted to conduct workshops with Councillors in relation to the following matters:

  • Inductions and professional development sessions
  • General information sharing that does not relate to agenda items
  • Strategic discussions
  • Discussions seeking the input and views of Councillors on a matter not currently subject to a report to Council.

Closed Councillor Workshops are not held for the purposes of deliberating on or making decisions on matters – such matters are considered at a Council meeting. Closed Councillor Workshops are closed to the public.
