- Project typeShared Pathway Construction Program
- Project value$440,000
- Project scheduleFebruary 2026 – December 2026
Background
The Project aims to improve active transport infrastructure by enhancing connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists between key residential and commercial areas. It focuses on promoting safety and accessibility by providing a designated pathway that reduces pedestrian-vehicle-conflict.
Additionally, the project supports community mobility by facilitating easier access for residents traveling between Wyndham Ridge Estate and Greta CBD. It encourages sustainable transport options, reducing car dependency and promoting walking and cycling. The project also aligns with local planning and development objectives, enhancing public infrastructure with more pedestrian-friendly routes.
Scope of works
The scope of works includes the investigation, design and construction of 243m long, 1.5 to 2.5m wide concrete shared pathway along West Street, Greta. The Pathway will connect Branxton Street to High Street, improving active transport connectivity between the Wyndham Ridge Estate and the Greta CBD. The works involve excavation of the existing earth drain.
Pedestrian safety improvements including kerb return construction, and integration of pram ramps and extended shared paths.
Monthly Update
June 2026
Works are progressing with the path being boxed out and formwork installed towards Lewis Street and expected to be completed by the end of the month.
Concrete pour has commenced and due to be completed to Lewis St by the end of June. Concrete will then continue to be poured up until Branxton St and is due for completion by the end of July/Start of August, weather pending.
Location

Traffic Management
Traffic Management will be implemented for the duration of the project to assist with management of local traffic through and around the works area.
Disruptions to affected driveway accesses are to be expected for the shared pathway to be constructed past each property frontage within the work zone. The construction team will endeavour to minimise the duration of these disruptions where possible and will notify affected residents in advance of any disruptions to vehicle access.
Funding
$440,000.00 including Cessnock Council’s City Wide Infrastructure Plan 2020 and West and Wyndham Streets Greta (Local Infrastructure) Planning Agreement.
