Background

Lovedale Road is a regional road, connecting Cessnock to the New England Highway (NEH) along with supporting commuter access form the NEH to the Hunter Expressway. Lovedale Road also supports tourism access within the Lovedale wine area. Lovedale Road has had various sections upgraded, with the section proposed for works deteriorating to the point where significant intervention is required to support its function as a critical access road within the Cessnock LGA.

Scope of works

The rehabilitation will consist of approximately 450m of Lovedale Road Allandale between the Hunter Expressway and the railway bridge:

  • Minor shoulder widening
  • Road side drainage improvements
  • Pavement upgrades / resurfacing
  • Line marking and delineation

Traffic Management

A Traffic Management Plan will be in place for the duration of the works and Variable Message Signs (VMS) will be displayed at various locations to inform the residents and road users.

Traffic control and reduced speed limits will be in place for the duration of the works.

Motorists are reminded to adhere to speed limits and follow directions of traffic controllers and signs.
