Background

Stage one included works from Old Maitland Road, Cessnock to Sawyers Gully. This section is between the Abermain Trail and Native Dog Hill Road. 

This project formed part of Council's Operational Plan. You can find it within the Operational Plan with the Project ID RRL 2021 012.

Program 

The works commenced in late July 2022 and were expected to be completed by early 2023. The project was placed on hold for a period of time due to land acquisitions, eventually it recommenced and was completed in December 2023.

Location

The works area is located on Old Maitland Road between property numbers 1519 - 1427 for a distance of approximately 800 metres.

Scope of works

Stage one road upgrade works for Old Maitland Road included:

  • tree removal
  • shoulder widening
  • road pavement rehabilitation
  • drainage Improvements
  • new spray seal surface
  • guardrail installation
