Cessnock Airport is located at 455 Wine Country Drive, Pokolbin. It is owned and operated by Cessnock City Council and is a registered aerodrome. Activities that occur at the facility include flying schools, adventure flights, scenic flights, charter flights, airport transfers, medical transfers, recreational flying and aircraft maintenance.
In March 2019, Council applied for grant funding under the Restart NSW Growing Local Economies Fund and was advised in April 2020 that the application was successful in receiving $6,636,100 for the Cessnock Airport upgrade. Council is contributed $2,212,097 towards the $8.8million project.

A stakeholder engagement session was held at the airport with operators in December 2021 so that Council, GHD and Fulton Hogan could provide important information on the upgrade and discuss how the works would impact operations. The session was well attended and Council committed that regular information would be provided to stakeholders as works progress.
Council was successful in receiving a $6,636,100 grant for the Cessnock Airport upgrade under the Restart NSW Growing Local Economies Fund.
