Barkuma Neighbourhood Centre
Barkuma Neighbourhood Centre
Barkuma Neighbourhood Centre Inc.
Barkuma is a not-for-profit community-based organisation assisting our Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Communities in the Cessnock, Maitland & Dungog areas with various supports, referral and advocacy.
Barkuma's Elders Support is designed to enable our Elders to live independently within their own home by offering support and assistance in a culturally appropriate environment.
At our Binarri Jinama-Gu site at Sawyers Gully, the team from Barkuma offer cultural experiences, bushtucker catering, venue hire and cultural awareness training. For groups, Binarri Jinama-Gu provides the opportunity to connect to country and to learn with cultural walks and knowledge transfer, dreamtime storytelling, cooking and bush tucker experiences.
Our services include: Elders Support, Family Violence, Aboriginal Housing, Cultural Awareness Training, The Lemon Turtle (bushtucker products and catering).
