Cessnock City Council is pleased to announce stage 2 of the Col Brown Rotary Park Beautification project has commenced. The work is being funded under a $847,701 grant provided through the NSW Government’s Resources for Regions program.

The funding also includes Stage 3 of the project. Stage 1 saw this important community asset transformed with new pathways, more trees and landscaping, new furniture, additional lighting, and a sandstone amphitheatre.

Stage 2 will build on these improvements with landscaping at the eastern and western ends of the park, increased seating, improvements to the amenities block, feature tree plantings, accessible pathways, and park lighting.

The works are expected to be completed by March 2023. Cessnock City Council Mayor Jay Suvaal said the Col Brown Rotary Park Beautification project was an exciting part of the Kurri Kurri Commercial Centre Masterplan.

“It’s great to see the plans for the revitalisation of Kurri Kurri CBD coming along,” Mayor Suvaal said.

“The end result will not only be the beautification of the park, but it will also be more user-friendly and accessible for the whole community to enjoy.”

“Our public spaces are so important, and these works mean the entire community will be able to make use of this community space right in the heart of Kurri Kurri.”

Stage 3 of the Col Brown Rotary Park Beautification project is expected to be completed by January 2024.
