Applications are now open for Cessnock City Council’s 2025/26 Local Heritage Fund, with grants of up to $2000 available to help spruce-up heritage listed properties and homes.

Whether it’s for repairs, a touch-up of paint, or other maintenance, the fund aims to provide financial assistance to owners of heritage listed properties or homes in Heritage Conservation Areas for conservation works or building code upgrades.

Cessnock City Mayor Dan Watton said the grants would kick-start projects to protect and preserve our built history.

"I’m calling on owners of heritage listed homes and properties to apply for a grant through Council’s Local Heritage Fund and take advantage of this wonderful opportunity," said Clr Watton.

"These grants are a great way to help preserve parts of our local history for the benefit of future generations."

Applications close 27 November 2025 and successful projects need to be finalised by 4 June 2026.

The fund will be administered in line with Council’s Local Heritage Fund Guidelines, which outline eligibility, timelines, and how grant money is to be matched.

Visit the Heritage page for more information on the fund, and to find the application form.
