Educators in the Spotlight for April’s ‘Support Local’ Campaign

Published on 22 March 2024

Cessnock City Council is launching its April competition for the ‘Support Local’ campaign, giving entrants the chance to win one of five sensory toy packs for their school of choice, valued at $100.

This month’s campaign focuses on childcare and education in the Cessnock LGA, and aims to shine a spotlight on educators doing a fantastic job.

Cessnock City Mayor Jay Suvaal is encouraging the community to get behind this month’s ‘Support Local’ campaign.

"I’m proud of the number of staff in the education and childcare sector in our LGA that go above and beyond to support, and create wonderful experiences for our children," said Clr Suvaal.

"This competition is a great opportunity for students, parents and carers to shine a spotlight on their local educators by sharing stories of their favourite teacher, and spreading the news about their hard work."

Entrants are asked to give a shoutout in 25 words or less to a wonderful teacher, carer, aide, librarian, school, preschool, or daycare in the Cessnock LGA. To enter post a photo of the school or staff on Facebook, tag them, and use the hashtag #supportlocalcessnock for your chance to win 1 of 5 sensory toy packs.

Five lucky winners will be selected at random and will receive one $100 sensory toy pack for their school. Their post will also be reposted to Advance Cessnock City’s Facebook page.

The competition goes live on the 1st April 2024, and will run until the 30th April 2024. Winners will be announced during the first week in May on the Advance Greater Cessnock social media channels.
