Borrowing policies

Loans 

The library has a huge collection of print and digital resources for all ages available to borrow:

For the first two months of membership, members are limited to three items on loan at a time. Temporary member privileges remain at this level. After the first two month period you may have up to fifteen items on loan at a time.

All collections have a 28 day loan period. Remember, always check your loan receipt or your library app to check your due dates.

Reservations

You can place reservations for items. You will be notified when the item is available for pickup.

Inter-library loans

Or would you like to use our Interlibrary loan service? Please refer to Council's schedule of fees and charges before proceeding.

To submit an Interlibrary Loan please click the link below or visit one of our branches. 

Bulk language loans (LOTE) from the State Library are available free of charge. Please see library staff to submit a request.

Returns and renewals

Items can be returned to either Cessnock or Kurri Kurri Libraries. An after hours return chute is available at both locations. Please do not return our items to other library services (e.g. Maitland or Newcastle).

Renew your loans before the due date via your library app, online account or by phoning the library. Items on loan can be renewed once unless reserved by another borrower, with another renewal available upon request.

Overdue

Overdue items must be returned before borrowing can resume or all outstanding charges paid in full.
