Council regularly undertakes minor works across the Cessnock Local Government Area. Please see below current and upcoming minor works.

Sealing Works – Various Locations

Please be advised that Sealing Works will be commencing on Wednesday 3 April 2024 – Tuesday 9 April 2024, weather permitting. Roads & dates are subject to change:

Wednesday 3 April & Thursday 4 April 2024

  • Mount View Road, Cessnock (Between Oakey Creek Rd  & end of sealed section)

Friday 5 April 2024

  • Oakey Creek Road, Pokolbin (Between Marrowbone Rd & Pokolbin Rd)

Monday 8 April 2024

  • Bridge Street, Cessnock (Between Cumberland St & Mayfield St)
  • Yango Street, Cessnock
  • Kendall Street, Bellbird (Between Wollombi Rd & Mary St)

Tuesday 9 April 2024

  • Mavis Street, Cessnock (Between Leonard St & Lindsay St)
  • Earp Street, Heddon Greta (Between Main Rd & Clift St)

Work hours will be from 6:30am – 4:00pm (weather permitting)

Please do not leave your vehicles parked on the street during this time.

Motor vehicle access to and from your property during the works may be restricted at times, however Council will minimise any disruptions and Council Officers will contact you before any works affect your access.

Cessnock Regional BMX Facility

Background

This project is identified within the Carmichael Park Masterplan and is expected to both improve and provide high-quality riding facilities for all members of the community.

The new and upgraded facility will include an asphalt pump track, as well as supporting infrastructure including a shade structure with seating, a bubbler and bin.

The BMX Facility will be open to visitors of all skill levels and will be located near a soon to be constructed multipurpose court which will create an active youth precinct at Carmichael Park, Bellbird.In July, Council endorsed a recommendation for Council to name the BMX Facility the “Neville Tomlinson BMX Facility”. Signage to recognise his contribution to the local community will be installed in readiness for the official opening.

 When

Works commenced in April 2023 and are expected to be completed in December 2023 (weather permitting).

Funding

This project is made possible thanks to the NSW Governmentʼs Resources for Regions Round 8, receiving funding of $250,000 to undertake works to upgrade Carmichael Park BMX Trackand $500,000 from the Federal Governments Investing in our Communities Program.

Temporary works – Occident & Pinchen Streets, Nulkaba

The imminent opening of the Occident Street access to the Cessnock Correctional Centre requires Council to implement road closures and intersection controls for works:

  • The closure of Occident Street using barriers and signage, immediately north of the Kerlew Street Intersection; and
  • The closure of Pinchen Street using barriers and signage, immediately north of the Kerlew Street Intersection.

Miller Park Multi-Purpose Courts

Background

The project involves the construction of two new multipurpose courts at Miller Park, Branxton. The proposed multipurpose courts will form a key element of an upgraded recreation space within the park and will be fenced and marked to provide netball, basketball and futsal. The multi-purpose courts are identified in the adopted Miller Park Masterplan.

When

Preliminary earthworks are underway, with construction expected to be completed by March 2024 (weather permitting).
