In response to the NSW Health stay at home order, Council services, facilities and events have been impacted. Important changes to the status of Council services will take place from Monday 18 October 2021.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the greater Newcastle and Hunter Valley areas, NSW Health has issued a stay at home order. Following the NSW Government's Roadmap to Reopening announcement, there will be further changes from Monday 18 October.
Transport for NSW has engaged Cessnock City Council to commence upgrade works on a 2 kilometre section of John Renshaw Drive from Lings Road, Buttai to the Hunter Expressway. The works are part of the NSW Government's $12.4 million project to improve safety along the 10 kilometre stretch of road between the M1 Pacific Motorway and the Hunter Expressway.
Construction is expected to take 12 months and will commence from Wednesday 7 April 2021. Work will be carried out from 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday with occasional Sunday to Thursday night work from 7pm to 5am.
Lane closures and a 40km/h speed limit will be in place during work hours and may affect travel times. A temporary 60km/h speed limit will be in place outside of work hours for the duration of the project.
