Due to the significant casualty crash history on Oakey Creek Road, Pokolbin, Council received grant funding of $2M under the Black Spot/Safer Roads Program to address road safety issues which focussed on a 1.1 kilometre length of the worst road section.
In March 2019, Council applied for grant funding under the Restart NSW Growing Local Economies Fund and was advised in April 2020 that the application was successful in receiving $6,636,100 for the Cessnock Airport upgrade. Council is contributing $2,212,097 towards the $8.8million project.
