Background

Council has received funding under the Australian Government Black Spot Program to complete works to improve road safety on a 300m section of Sandy Creek Road, Quorrobolong, a busy rural road that is a vital link between Leggetts Drive and Quorrobolong.

The upgrade will ensure a safer journey for drivers and motorcyclists exploring the region. A solar powered vehicle activated curve warning sign will be installed as part of the works. This is the first to be installed in the Cessnock Local Government Area.

This project forms part of Council's Operational Plan. You can find it within the Operational Plan with the Project ID CRR 2020 004. 


Funding

This project is funded under the Australian Government Black Spot funding for 2020/21. Council received $343,500 under the program to complete the works.


Scope of Works

The works comprise road widening and safety improvements including:

  • Widening of road shoulder
  • Installation of motorcycle friendly guard rail
  • Resurfacing and delineation works
  • Installation of Vehicle Activated Sign (VAS) and other signage.
