Public swimming pools

Our pools

We have three public pools in the Cessnock LGA. Please see below for more information about each facility.

Branxton Pool

Following the approval of our COVID-19 Safety Plan, Branxton Pool has now reopened to fully vaccinated residents.

Address: 4 Maitland Street, Branxton
Contact:
 (02) 4938 1450
Hours:
 Monday – Friday 6am – 5pm, Saturday and Saturday 7am – 5pm.

COVID-19 restrictions for reopening
Branxton pool is currently open for both lap and recreational swimming.

With NSW reaching 80% vaccination rate, we have removed booking system - fully vaccinated patrons (aged 16 and over) can now come to the pool and enjoy a swim without the need to pre-book. There has also been an increase to capacity limits.

While our local pools are hugely popular, Council has had to put strict conditions in place to comply with the Public Health Order.
These include:

  • all patrons must check-in via the Service NSW QR Code and show their vaccination status/passport
  • residents over the age of 16 will need to prove they are fully vaccinated on arrival
  • there will be TWO recreational swimming sessions (9am - 12.45pm and 1.15pm - 5pm daily).
  • the pool will close at 12.45pm for staff to complete cleaning of the change rooms and high touch points.
  • lap swimming ONLY from 6am - 9am (Monday-Friday) and 7am - 9am (Saturday and Sunday).
  • use of hand sanitiser on entry and exit of facility

Facilities:

  • Outdoor seasonal 33 metre pool with six lanes and ramp access
  • Covered toddler pool with step entry and water play features
  • Change rooms including accessible change room and toilet
  • Kiosk facilities
  • Small grandstand
  • Picnic shelters and seating
  • Grassed areas for picnics

Branxton Pool is also home to Branxton Greta Amateur Swim Club who offer a range of programs and competitions. For information on the club, visit their Facebook page. Swimming Clubs are expected to return in the coming weeks.

Please note: Due to COVID-19, there will be capacity limits during the 2021/22 Summer season. When the lockdown is lifted and the state starts to open back up, conditions may change. Stay up to date by visiting Council's Facebook page.
