January 2022 Microchipping Day POSTPONED due to COVID-19

Every year animals go missing from their homes due to inadequate fencing, theft or extraordinary escape artist skills. Making sure your pet is microchipped can be the difference between their life and death. Owner and animal details are contained on the tiny rice grain-sized 'chip' inserted under their skin. The chip can be checked by vets, Council and animal shelters, making it easy to reunite you with your furry friend.

Cessnock City Council is inviting residents to have their dog microchipped at our Free Microchipping Day for Dogs on Saturday 29 January 2022, from 9am to 1pm. The event will be held in Council's administration building carpark (entry via Cumberland Street, Cessnock). No bookings are required.

Event conditions:

  • Open to residents of the Cessnock LGA only (proof of residence will be required)
  • Litters will no be chipped on the day
  • This specific event is only for dogs (residents who would like their cat microchipped can contact Council Customer Services on 02 4993 4100)
