Sports grounds

There are six Rugby League sporting fields located at Cessnock, Kearsley, Abermain, Kurri Kurri and Greta.

Fields are located at Cessnock and Branxton.

There are 10 soccer fields across the LGA located in Cessnock, Bellbird, Abermain, Kurri Kurri, Pelaw Main and Weston.

Horse sport facilities are located at Stanford Merthyr, Neath, Greta and Wollombi.

Tracks are established at Branxton, Kurri Kurri and Cessnock.

There are 28 cricket wickets provided across the LGA and they are made up of a combination of 21 turf and seven concrete wickets. Practice nets are located at Bellbird, Branxton, Cessnock, Kurri Kurri and Mulbring.

There are six Council provided tennis facilities throughout the LGA. Cessnock Tennis Centre has 18 courts and there are eight courts at Kurri Kurri. Branxton, Greta, Mulbring and Wollombi tennis courts all have two courts.  

Facilities are located at Branxton, Cessnock and Kurri Kurri.  Branxton has four courts, Cessnock has 18 and Kurri Kurri has eight.

There is one hockey facility containing a synthetic pitch located in Cessnock.

There are skateparks located at Cessnock, Greta and Kurri Kurri and a BMX track at Bellbird.

These are located at Cessnock and North Rothbury.
