Carrying out works & events on roads

Approval is required when carrying out an activity or doing work within a road reserve.

A public road reserve is the area including the road surface, its shoulders, gutters, verges, footpaths and nature strips. It's the entire space between property boundaries across the roadway.

Council aims to ensure that activities and work on our roads are carried out safely, minimise impact on traffic, and maintain valuable public assets.

Works within a road reserve

Planning on carrying out works in the road reserve? Find out if you need approval for a variety of works including vehicle access crossings, construction works and road openings.

Planning an event

A permit is required if an event requires temporary regulation of traffic or road closures.

Street dining

Consent requirements explained for using footpaths for outdoor dining.

Roadside grazing

Seek a permit for your livestock to graze on roadside vegetation.

Register of activity in a public road

View the notice of application for events or activities requiring the temporary regulation of traffic.

Street vending and charity fundraising

Council supports the use of footpaths in public road reserves by assessing applications and granting consent for street vending and fund raising.
