Today we reopened Cessnock Waste Management Centre (CWMC) to the public after a period of closure due to COVID-19.

Following an announcement from the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) last Thursday that waste centres across NSW can reopen in a COVID Safe manner, Council acted quickly to implement the required measures to reopen the facility.

While residents do not need to be vaccinated to attend CWMC, strict conditions apply to ensure it remains a COVID Safe environment.

Visitors must:

  • Check in using the QR code system on site
  • Wear a face mask at all times
  • Social distance at all times
  • Remain in their vehicle when not unloading

Residents are advised to keep their loads manageable as waste staff will not be available to assist customers to unload.

The Centre will be open from 8:45am to 4:30pm, 7 days a week. No bookings are required and residents’ yearly waste vouchers are welcome to be used provided they are in date.
