Changes to Council's services and facilities

Please see the below information regarding the status of Council's services and facilities:

Customer Service Centre

Council's Customer Service Centre on Vincent Street, Cessnock is fully open to all community members Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. 
 
 In line with the NSW Public Health Order, COVID Safe guidelines remain in place. All visitors are required to QR check-in upon arrival, wear a mask, social distance, use the hand sanitiser available and comply with any additional requirements displayed on site.

Cessnock Waste Management Centre (CWMC)

Cessnock Waste Management Centre is fully open to all community members 7 days a week, 8:45am to 4:30pm.

In line with the NSW Public Health Order, COVID Safe guidelines remain in place. All visitors are required to QR check-in upon arrival, wear a mask, social distance, use the hand sanitiser available and comply with any additional requirements displayed on site.

Visit the Cessnock Waste Management Centre section of the website for information on waste vouchers, the Community Recycling Centre, alternate waste vouchers or disposing of problem waste.

Council meetings

Council meetings will recommence in February 2022 and will be held in the Council Chambers on Vincent Street, Cessnock. 

Community members will be permitted to attend under COVID Safe conditions per the NSW Public Health Order. All attendees will be required to QR check-in upon arrival, wear a mask, social distance, use the hand sanitiser available and comply with any additional requirements displayed on the night.

All meetings are livestreamed and residents are encouraged to view them on Council's Facebook page from 6:30pm on the night of the meeting.

Cessnock City Libraries

Cessnock and Kurri Kurri library branches are fully open to all community members per standard operating hours.

In line with the NSW Public Health Order, COVID Safe guidelines remain in place. All visitors are required to QR check-in upon arrival, wear a mask, social distance, use the hand sanitiser available and comply with any additional requirements displayed on site.

Cessnock Performing Arts Centre (CPAC)

CPAC has reopened to all community members Monday to Friday, 9am to 4:30pm. 

In line with the NSW Public Health Order, COVID Safe guidelines remain in place. All visitors are required to QR check-in upon arrival, wear a mask, social distance, use the hand sanitiser available and comply with any additional requirements displayed on site.

Hunter Valley Visitor Information Centre (HVVIC)

The HVVIC is fully open to all community members Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm and Sunday and public holidays, 9am to 4pm.

In line with the NSW Public Health Order, COVID Safe guidelines remain in place. All visitors are required to QR check-in upon arrival, wear a mask, social distance, use the hand sanitiser available and comply with any additional requirements displayed on site.

Cessnock Youth Centre Outreach Service (CYCOS)

CYCOS is available for community and youth groups to hire the venue. Contact CYCOS on 02 4993 4355 for more information.

Arts and cultural centres

Marthaville Arts and Cultural Centre (200 Wollombi Road, Cessnock) reopened on Friday 5 November 2021. In line with the NSW Public Health Order, COVID Safe guidelines remain in place. All visitors are required to QR check-in upon arrival, wear a mask, social distance, use the hand sanitiser available and comply with any additional requirements displayed on site.

All other arts and cultural centres, including Wollombi Cultural Centre and Richmond Main, remain closed until further notice.

The below previously closed public toilet facilities will reopen from Friday 21 January 2022:

  •  Margret Johns Oval, Kurri Kurri

  • Ayrfield Miners Memorial Park, North Rothbury
  • East End Oval (no longer a public toilet - Bridges Hill Playground amenities adjacent open)

Parks

All parks, including outdoor gyms, playgrounds and skateparks, remain open across the Cessnock Local Government Area.

Sporting facilities

Regular and casual hire of all sporting facilities, including the Cessnock Civic Indoor Sports Centre, has resumed.

COVID Safe measures remain in place to comply with the NSW Public Health Order. Please comply with all requirements displayed on site.

Tennis facilities

Tennis facilities are open and will operate in accordance with the NSW Public Health Order. Find out more via Tennis NSW here.

Recreational Vehicle (RV) areas

Council operated RV areas at Branxton and Kurri Kurri are open.

Community halls

Regular and casual hire of all community halls has resumed, with COVID Safe measures in place to comply with the NSW Public Health Order. All visitors are required to QR check-in upon arrival, wear a mask, social distance, use the hand sanitiser available and comply with any additional requirements displayed on site.

Aquatic facilities

Cessnock and Branxton Swimming Pools

Both facilities are now operating at full capacity under Council’s revised COVID Safety Plan in line with the current NSW Public Health Order. 

With the easing of vaccination requirements, all patrons can now enjoy a swim and capacity limits have been relaxed.

Coming into the summer season, our pools are hugely popular. To ensure all patrons can safely enjoy our facilties, the following conditions are in place: 

  • All patrons are required to QR check-in upon arrival (manual check-in also available)
  • Maintain social distancing where possible
  • Continue to use hand sanitiser
  • Comply with any additional revised Public Health Order requirements

Opening hours 
Monday to Friday: 6am - 5pm
Weekends and public holidays: 7am - 5pm
Christmas Day: CLOSED
