Fiction Lover’s Feast

There will be authors aplenty at our libraries and beyond in the coming weeks.

 First up will be The Heart of Stories Tour: four authors and four different ways of telling stories about women’s lives.

Presented by HarperCollins, Adele Parks, Fiona Lowe, Alexandra Joel and Vanessa McCausland will present a panel discussion. Topics include talking about the rise of women centred fiction from historical, domestic noir to contemporary genres and their own works.

Australian best-selling author and local, Tea Cooper will visit to discuss her latest release, The Girl in the Painting. Set in Sydney, Hill End and Maitland in the late 19th and early 20th century, Tea’s much-anticipated new book is an atmospheric and richly detailed Australian historical mystery.

Next up, bestselling authors Fiona McArthur, Trish Morey a Janette Paul (aka Jaye Ford) are on tour promoting Trish's latest release 'One Summer between Friends'. It’s a story about friendship, betrayal and the rocky road to forgiveness, all set on glorious Lord Howe Island. Janette, Fiona and Trish will be talking books, writing and women's fiction in a fun and chatty session.

Then the Library hits the road to Wollombi Schoolhouse for the HerStory Tour. Herstory features a panel of five authors including Karen Brooks, Mary-Anne O’Connor, Victoria Purman, Kerri Turner and Tea Cooper who will be discussing their respective books, the importance of writing women back into history and their approach to writing historical fiction. Herstory was conceived to shine a light on the stories of strong women who have defied the social norms of their times with a rebellious spirit.

Council’s Library Services Co-ordinator, Rose-marie Walters said women fiction is one of the most popular reading genres and historical fiction is a unique vehicle to draw readers into real-life events of the past: firing up the imagination and transporting readers to a different time and place.”
