Easter Holiday Arrangements 2021

Council's Administration Office, Vincent Street, Cessnock: CLOSED Good Friday 2 April to Easter Monday 5 April (inclusive).

Cessnock and Kurri Kurri Libraries: CLOSED from 5pm on Thursday 1 April. OPEN from 9am on Tuesday 6 April.

Ranger Services: A Council Ranger will be on call for the Easter period. Normal services will return on Tuesday 6 April. In an emergency please call the Police (000).

Cessnock Performing Arts Centre (CPAC): CLOSED from 5pm on Thursday 1 April. OPEN from 9am on Tuesday 6 April.

Cessnock and Branxton Swimming Pools: Cessnock and Branxton Pools are now closed for the 2020/21 season. Both pools will re-open for the 2021/22 season on Saturday 2 October.

Kurri Kurri Aquatic Centre: CLOSED Good Friday 2 April. OPEN 10am to 4pm Saturday to Monday.

Kerbside Collections: NO general (red bin) waste collection on Friday 2 April. Collections normally made on that day will be collected on Saturday 3 April. Recycling (yellow bin) and garden organics (green bin) collection as normal on Good Friday 2 April. Collections will return to normal for general waste, recycling and garden organics Monday 5 April.

Cessnock Waste Management Centre: CLOSED on Good Friday 2 April. OPEN per usual hours all other days. 

Greta Transfer Station: CLOSED

Cessnock Airport: For all enquiries regarding Cessnock Airport, please contact Tony Allan during normal business hours on 0401 107 557. 

Hunter Valley Visitors Information Centre: OPEN 9am to 4pm on Public Holidays Easter Sunday. Easter Saturday hours are 9am to 5pm.

On 17 March 2021 and pursuant to clause 22 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2000, Council resolved to repeal the following chapters of the Cessnock Development Control Plan 2011:

  • C2 Flora and Fauna Survey Guidelines
  • C3 Contaminated Lands
  • C7 Trees and Vegetation Management
  • D9 Outdoor Dining
  • E1 Ellalong Lagoon
  • E13 Cessnock Civic
  • E5 Gingers Lane, Weston
  • E9 Millfield Small Holdings

The reasons for the repeal are to remove redundant chapters and controls that are no longer considered in the assessment of development applications or have been replaced by other controls or policies. 

The chapters will be repealed on Monday 5 April 2021.
