Customer wearing face mask

Cessnock City Council is encouraging customers to wear face masks in order to protect both residents, visitors and Council staff.

Council is currently continuing to offer over the counter services at its facilities, including at the Customer Relations Centre in Council’s Administration Building, Cessnock and Kurri Kurri Libraries, the Hunter Valley Visitor Information Centre and Cessnock Performing Arts Centre.

Council’s General Manager, Lotta Jackson thanked the community for their cooperation.

“We all need to be taking measures to stop the spread of COVID-19. In NSW we are at a critical point and it’s certainly our wish to see the Cessnock Local Government Area COVID free. This is about protecting our most vulnerable residents, the elderly, those immune compromised and about safeguarding our local economy. We don’t want to see our local businesses suffer again, like the businesses are across both Melbourne and regional Victoria.”

Residents are reminded that wearing a mask is not a substitute for other precautions such as practicing physical distancing, washing your hands, coughing or sneezing into your elbow or tissue, or staying home when sick. For more information on face masks visit NSW Health.
