Council will welcome Peter Mickleson

Peter Mickleson will join the team at Cessnock City Council after securing the position of Director, Planning and Environment.

Mr Mickleson is currently the Director of Planning and Development at the City of Nedlands, Perth, Western Australia and has a long history of working in local government, stretching over three decades.

Council’s General Manager Lotta Jackson is pleased Mr Mickleson will be working for the Cessnock community.

“Peter brings over 26 years of experience in director positions. We look forward to his skills and experience in stakeholder relationships, community engagement, strategic planning, human resources, risk management and economic development.”

Ms Jackson recognised and thanked Acting Director Martin Johnson for his leadership.

“Well done to Martin, it has been fantastic to have you as part of the executive team, offering your expertise and support.”

Mr Mickleson is looking forward to the role, getting to know staff and the community.

“I enjoy working in regional areas where there is a closer connection between community and its local leadership. It provides Council with more opportunities to gauge service delivery through direct feedback. I’m eager to hear from residents about their aspirations and lifestyle ambitions. I have always had a view that councils are in the lifestyle business.”

Mr Mickleson will commence in the position in January 2021.
