The NSW Government has announced more changes in response the spread of COVID-19. These changes include the issuing of a number of development orders that impact construction, commercial kitchens, take way food and mobile food vendors.

Construction sites may now extend their hours of work on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays to those hours of work that would normally apply during weekday operations. Subject to the following conditions:

  • You must have a development consent in place to do the work.
  • The work to be carried out on Saturdays, Sundays or Public Holidays must not involve rock breaking, rock hammering, sheet piling, pile driving or similar activities.
  • Noise must be minimised.

Council will investigate matters related to construction activities as part of Council’s standard service. Please be aware Council doesn’t provide development compliance services after business hours. Any matters reported after hours will be followed up the next business day.

Existing commercial kitchens that have development approval may now provide take away food and mobile food outlets may operate without development consent subject to land owner consent. Specific conditions must be followed. Mobile food outlets will need to comply with the NSW Food Safety Standards, NSW Food Act 2003 and the NSW Food Authority Guidelines for mobile vendors. For more information visit the NSW Food Authority.

These changes have been announced by the Minister for Planning and Public Spaces. Details of each Ministerial Order can be found online at the NSW Planning Portal.
