Cessnock and Kurri Kurri Branch libraries will be open from Monday 1 June. Our opening hours will be Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. Patrons will be able to select and borrow their own items or call us and we will prepare a loan for you to collect.

There will be an express public computer, photocopying and scanning services available at each branch. Both libraries will be operating in a COVID-safe mode. If you have any questions please feel free to call at (02) 4993 4399 or email at library@cessnock.nsw.gov.au.

While the library was physically closed, there were many online offerings to enjoy including virtual Storytime, ‘Live from the Archive’, eBooks, eMovies, eMagazines and eMusic. Library users can always access their 24/7 eBranch free with their library card. No card? No worries, residents can join their library free online.

During the temporary closure of the library we still had thousands of eBranch items borrowed, hundreds of items delivered and collected and thousands of views of our virtual Storytime and archival talks on Facebook.

Thanks for your support. We received so many great messages on social media:

“Miss the smiling faces and their friendliness.”

“Miss the intelligent, polite and helpful staff and all the books and resources…looking forward to my next visit.”

Library users can give their feedback about what they missed most from the library by posting on Facebook using the hashtag #MissedMyLibrary.
