Cessnock City Council welcomed a Federal Government announcement today seeing Sandy Creek Road, Quorrobolong receive over $1.6 million in grant funding under the NSW Government’s Fixing Local Roads program.

NSW Senator Perin Davey was in Cessnock today and shared the good news with Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent.

“The Nationals in Government are injecting even more funding into the roads in the bush that communities depend on,” Senator Davey said.

“Big infrastructure projects are incredibly important but smaller projects such as these make a big difference in people’s everyday lives.”

“The Nationals are committed to delivering important projects such as these for the people of the Hunter Region.”

Mayor, Cr Pynsent said the funding will be used to undertake much needed pavement rehabilitation on this busy rural road.

“Sandy Creek Road is in dire need of rehabilitation and with Council’s limited funding, we rely on programs like the Fixing Local Roads to help us undertake this critical infrastructure work.”

“It will be a relief for residents, and also for heavy vehicle drivers frequenting the road to service rural land holders, primary producers and also mining related industries.”

Successful projects under the Fixing Local Roads Program will be undertaken to ensure local communities see the benefits as quickly as possible.
