PUBLIC EXHIBITION - Cessnock City Wide Flood Study

The draft City Wide Flood Study is on exhibition from 9 April 2021 until 7 May 2021 at Cessnock and Kurri Kurri library branches and online.

 The Study will assist to identify flood affected lots not already identified in adopted flood studies.

Submissions are NOT kept confidential. Council releases submissions when a request is made in accordance with privacy laws and the relevant provisions under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009.

When a submission is released by law, Council routinely withholds contact numbers, email addresses and signatures. Should you wish for all personal details or any information that may identify you to be withheld from the public, please advise Council of this in your submission.

Written submissions should address the General Manager, Cessnock City Council and be titled 'Re: Citywide Flood Study'. Submissions should be received by no later than 5pm, Friday 7 May 2021 and can be sent via post to PO Box 152, Cessnock NSW 2325 or emailed to council@cessnock.nsw.gov.au

PUBLIC EXHIBITION - Planning Proposal 18/2019/1/1 - Reclassification and Rezoning of Council Land

On 10 November 2020 the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment issued a Gateway determination enabling Council to place the 'Planning Proposal 18/2019/1/1 – Reclassification and Rezoning of Council Land' on exhibition for a period of 28 days. This is consistent with Council’s resolution to proceed with this Proposal at its Ordinary Meeting held 15 July 2020.

The objective of the Planning Proposal is to reclassify and/or rezone several properties at Cessnock, East Branxton, Greta, Kurri Kurri, Pelaw Main, and Weston as described in the Planning Proposal.

The Planning Proposal is on public exhibition for a period of 28 days from 26 April to 24 May 2021 and can be viewed at the following locations:

  • Council’s Administration Building (Customer Services) 
  • Council Public Libraries (Cessnock and Kurri Kurri)
  • Council’s website here

Any person may make a written submission in relation to the Planning Proposal. Any views expressed in written submissions will be considered by Council before a final decision is made on whether or not the draft Plan should be made.

PUBLIC EXHIBITION - Planning Proposal 18/2020/1/1 - 39 Pinchen Street and 8 Kerlew Street, Nulkaba

On 24 August 2020 the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment issued a Gateway determination enabling Council to place the Planning Proposal '18/2020/1/1 – 39 Pinchen Street and 8 Kerlew Street, Nulkaba' on exhibition for a period of 14 days. This is consistent with Council’s resolution to proceed with this Proposal at its Ordinary Meeting held 20 May 2020.

The objective of the Planning Proposal is to amend the Cessnock Local Environmental Plan 2011 to rezone part of the land at 39 Pinchen Street and 8 Kerlew Street, Nulkaba from R5 Large Lot Residential to RU5 Village and amend the minimum lot size from 2000m2 to 750m2. 

The Planning Proposal is on public exhibition for a period of 14 days from 26 April to 10 May 2021 and can be viewed at the following locations:

PUBLIC EXHIBITION - Maybury Peace Park/Chinaman's Hollow Masterplan

At the Ordinary Meeting of Cessnock City Council on 21 April 2021, Council resolved to place on Public Exhibition the Maybury Peace Park/Chinaman’s Masterplan. 

The public exhibition period will be from Monday 26 April 2021 to Sunday 23 May 2021. The documents can be viewed at the following locations:

  • Cessnock Library and Kurri Kurri Library 
  • On request at Council's Administration Building
