Temporary Road Closures 

Temporary Amenities Closure – Booth Park, Kurri Kurri

There will be a temporary closure of the toilets at Booth Park from Monday 15 April to Friday 7 June in order to carry out maintenance.
 
During this time, the playground will remain open as usual, and the nearest toilet amenities are at Rotary Park Kurri Kurri.

Westcott Street, Cessnock (between Dudley & Bent Streets)

From November 2023 Westcott Street will be closed to all vehicles and controlled pedestrian access will be provided. The duration of the closure is expected to be around 6-8 months. 

Detours will be in place, as shown in the below image.

Occident and Pinchen Street, Nulkaba

As of 9 June 2023 Council will be installing the following traffic control treatments on Occident and Pinchen Street, Nulkaba:

  • The closure of Occident Street using barriers and signage, immediately north of the Kerlew Street Intersection; and
  • The closure of Pinchen Street using barriers and signage, immediately north of the Kerlew Street Intersection.

Further updates on the reopening will be provided soon.  


Other Closures

Grass Sporting Fields

Following inspections of Council's grass sporting fields today, ALL grounds are now OPEN.

Risk assessments should be undertaken prior to the use of all grounds.


Booth Park Playground Amenities, Kurri Kurri

There will be a temporary closure from Monday 15 April to Friday 7 June in order to carry out maintenance on our toilet amenities. During this time, the playground will remain open as usual. The nearest toilet amenities are at Col Brown Rotary Park, Kurri Kurri.


Senior Unit of Birralee Playground, Kurri Kurri

The Senior Unit of Birralee Playground at Kurri Kurri is closed until further notice for extensive maintenance & repairs going into the new year. The remainder of the playground is open for use and the second swing set vandalised earlier in the year has been re-instated


Harle St Playground, Abermain

The Harle Street Playground will be closed for renewal from the week of 6th November 2023, with completion expected by late March 2024.

During this time, we'll be removing the old play system, installing an accessible play space, adding picnic shelters, seating, accessible pathways, and improving the landscaping.

We apologise for any inconvenience and encourage you to enjoy the nearby Maybury Peace Park in Weston as an alternative during the closure.


Watagans National Park

There are some major landslips on Heaton/Watagan Forest Road that have left much of the road pavement missing and constitutes a hazard to motorists.

Watagans National Park is currently closed (both ends i.e. Heaton Road and Watagan Forest Road).
