We're reviewing the Cessnock Airport Operational Policy & User Guidelines and are proposing to separate the Guideline from the Policy.

The current document includes operational procedures and requires a Council resolution when operational changes are made. By separating the documents, the Guideline can be adapted quickly to legislative changes, CASA related standards and other operational requirements.

The draft documents apply to all users of the airport including pilots, owners, tenants and operators, as well as staff that implement them.

The draft Policy seeks to:

  • ensure Cessnock Airport is a safe and complying facility
  • minimise negative impacts on residental amenity
  • promote a greater awareness of aviation safety
  • promote Cessnock Airport as the gateway to the Hunter Valley
  • promote economic and tourism development
  • attract adequate funding
  • foster communication between Council and all airport users

The draft Operational User Guideline(PDF, 701KB) will streamline airport operations.
