The Building Line Policy provides clarification regarding setbacks for new dwelling houses, including ancillary residential development, and industrial development in the Cessnock local government area (LGA). It aims to:
- Enhance the character of the streetscape
- Establish appropriate design that is sensitive to the landscape and environmental characteristics of the locality
- Reinforce the distinctive characteristics of the streetscape and/or environment in conservation areas
The policy has been reviewed and amended to align with the current local and state planning framework, including the Cessnock Local Environmental Plan 2011 (CLEP 2011) and Codes SEPP.
The amendments include updates to land-use terminology, zones to reflect the Standard Instrument LEP (CLEP 2011), numerical development standards, technical definitions and general formatting.
