Councillor Paul Dunn was born in Cessnock in 1979 and has lived in Bellbird and Cessnock most of that time. With small work related moves to Gosford and Forster, Paul returned back to Cessnock to get married in 2004 and he and his wife now have one daughter, Isabella.
Paul entered the work force in 1998 working for Coles Supermarket at Cessnock. After completing a Degree in Arts/Communications and Certificate and Diplomas in Business, he is now the Regional Sales Manager (Northern NSW) for a multi-national food corporation.
Paul’s main areas of focus are; narrowing the disconnect between residents and their Council; corporate structures with a sound economic footprint; and delivering more money on the ground, to roads, parks and community based facilities.
In Paul’s first term on Council, he has been instrumental in the formation of:
- The Strategic Property & Community Facilities Committee, with a focus on asset recycling and a positive return on investment, with a view to increasing council’s bottom line.
- The Cultural Facilities Committee, with a view to overseeing our public facilities to maximise their function, utilisation and return on investment.
- The Road Review Committee, with a focus of reforming the road sealing policy, reviewing road ownership and ensuring the focus of council remains on the primary function of road building and sealing.
Paul is also Council’s elected representative on to the Audit and Risk Committee. This Committee’s objective is to provide independent assurance and assistance to Council on risk management, internal control, governance and external accountability procedures. The Committee ensures there is an adequate and effective system of internal control throughout Council and assists in the operation and implementation of the Internal and External Audit Plans.
It's Paul’s belief that rate payers come first and foremost and he will aim to represent them and their opinions during his time on Council.
