Councillor Mark Lyons was born in Perth and raised in Sydney, he served as a Councillor on Hornsby Shire Council, then NSW’s tenth largest. He moved to the Hunter Valley in 2007.
He has worked as a Local Government Consultant, in the disability sector, on the staff of Joel Fitzgibbon MP and currently manages a cleaning services firm.
Mark wants to promote what is unique about Cessnock, including our Aboriginal Heritage, our small town lifestyle and our priceless agriculture and viticulture.
His priorities are; upgrading roads and improving traffic management, getting best practice development that deliver first rate infrastructure to our community. He would also like to see the revitalisation of the Cessnock CBD, more job generating development in the LGA and more, upgrades to local parks and community facilities to meet the needs of our rapidly growing population. He is also committed to improving Council’s engagement with the community.
Mark sits on the Strategic Property and Community Facilities Committee, Floodplain Management Committee and the Austar Coal Mine Consultative Committee.
