Bob Pynsent



Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent has served on Council since 1999 representing Ward B and is currently serving his second term as Mayor. Cr Pynsent has long had an interest in local issues and believes his role as Mayor is to build a better community for groups of all ages and backgrounds.

Bob is a former teacher and principal who finished his career at Kearsley Public School. He is a proud father of two boys who he has raised with his wife Kathy. He has lived in the Cessnock Local Government Area (LGA) since 1988 and is a keen cattle breeder.

He is passionate about growing the government area, developing communities and providing jobs for local people.

He is focused on continually lobbying for financial assistance for Council’s roads and bridges program as well as community recreation facilities. During Cr Pynsent’s time as Mayor, Council has experienced an increase in funding provided by the Federal Government and State Government. This increased funding has enabled the completion of major infrastructure projects across the LGA.

Bob serves on the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Board and is the Chair of Hunter Joint Organisation of Councils.
