Councillor Allan Stapleford has lived in the Cessnock LGA for over 60 years. He was born in Millfield and lived there as a youngster before moving into Cessnock with his family. He returned to Millfield 16 years ago.
Allan spent many years working in the coal mining industry. He joined Council with the aim of giving something back to the community that has been so good to him and his family. The father-of-two enjoys beef and poultry farming on his small property.
He would like to see roadwork improvements on all roads, especially Wollombi and Paynes Crossing. Allan believes Catch-a-boy Lagoon should be turned into a wildlife park for the benefit of all Cessnock. He is also passionate about a new aquatic centre to support the growing population of Cessnock and believes Cessnock Sportsground needs better cricket facilities.
Allan is a member of the Hunter Local Land Services Advisory Committee and a former member of the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Advisory Committee.
