Hall of Fame - General information

The City of Cessnock Hall of Fame celebrates individuals and families who have a strong association with the City of Cessnock and have attained significant prominence in their field of endeavour.

Inductees come from all spheres of the community and are honoured for their outstanding achievements and contributions.

There are six categories of recognition:

  • Arts
  • Sport
  • Public Service
  • Science
  • Business
  • Meritorious Families

Objectives

The Hall of Fame has been established to:

  • recognise and celebrate the achievements of people who have a strong association with the City of Cessnock and have made a significant contribution in their field of endeavour
  • be an aspirational resource to inspire current and future generations of the City of Cessnock
  • be a source of civic pride
  • showcase the achievements and contributions of the City of Cessnock to the broader state, national and international community.

Eligibility

To be eligible for consideration for induction into the Hall of Fame the nominated individual or family must:

  • have been born in the City of Cessnock
  • have spent a substantial period of their childhood/adolescence in the City of Cessnock, or
  • have been resident in the City of Cessnock for a substantial period of time during their period of achievement.

To be eligible for consideration for induction into the Hall of Fame as a Meritorious Family, the nominated family must have been associated with the City of Cessnock for three or more generations.

Organisations, groups and business entities are not eligible for nomination.


Recognition

Inductees are honoured through:

  • an induction ceremony
  • inclusion on the City of Cessnock Wall of Fame located in the Cessnock Performing Arts Centre
  • a commemorative plaque placed in a prominent location relevant to the nominee
  • inclusion on the Cessnock City Council website
  • ongoing promotional opportunities

Nominations

Nominations to the Hall of Fame will open in 2022.

Nominations must be submitted on the City of Cessnock Hall of Fame Nomination Form. Documentary evidence to support and verify the application must be included.

Nominations can be made by any person or organisation.
